Activities for Children & Teens

The new school year is well under way, and Hugh Embry Library has some great activities scheduled for students of all ages.

Join us for monthly activities for teens.  Under the direction of Teen Programs Manager, and teen favorite advisor, Paul Stonebridge, we will be offering the programming that teens prefer.  Each month we will host an Anime-Manga-Cosplay club in which teens will review their favorite characters, storylines, and artwork from the Anime/Manga scene.  Additionally, they will have the opportunity to show off their own creations.  We will also host a Teen Gaming Day, in which teens will be able to play an assorted variety of their favorite games, including Wii, X-Box 360, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Cup Stacking, board games, Dance Dance Revolution, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic, and many more.  Whether you own them at home or not, come play with us in the company of friends.  Lastly, we will host varied activities each month as listed in our current Calendar of Events or as selected by participating teens throughout the season.

We also have monthly activities for elementary school age students.  These activities include our Fun Factory in which children have fun doing crafts, playing games, and interacting with each other in a structured recreational setting.  It doesn't even seem like learning!  This season the children will enjoy the envigorating and energizing sport of cupstacking, the international sensation that is becoming a local favorite.  For more about cupstacking check out the site for Speedstacks, among others.  Additionally, we offer a monthly Weekend Movie Matinee for the entire family.  Enjoy a G or a PG-rated feature with us, plus juice and popcorn, one Saturday each month.  Check our Calendar of Events for this season's schedule.

Not least of all, we have weekly Storytime programs every Wednesday for toddlers at 10:15 a.m. and for preschoolers at 11:00 a.m.  Enjoy stories, songs, activities, and fun interacting with other children under the direction of everyone's favorite storyteller, Ms. Lyn!

Family Nutrition Program

Pasco County encourages residents to learn about good nutrition. The Pasco County Cooperative Extension, with the assistance of the Pasco County Library System, provides useful information about good nutrition through the Family Nutrition Program. Look for our display at Hugh Embry Branch Library.
